Ive been going off on Zab for alot of **** lately also but only because I dont think he's been humble enough after the losses and he's been talking real crazy like he's still the man and he only gets big fights for nice money. However, if he gets the Devon match or any other name fight at 140 then he did everything he wanted to do.
I still say that people rip him far far far too much for his losses as he truly had no business at WW. He was coming into the ring at 146 pounds and fighting the best guys there. People call him a 4 round fighter but its only because most of those guys were so big that after 4 rounds they would wear him down or Floyd was just too god period. No one ever called him a 4 rounder at 140 or even at WW against guys his own size like Spinks.
I also think he is like Mosley who said that he could never get down to WW again but now makes it fairly easy. Zab isnt that big. He just needs the right diet & motivation. Now Ive always been one of those guys who believe that you cant lose that many times and still be the same guy but its still possible in this situation because of where he lost and where he's going back to. Now let me ask all of you this:
I still stand by the fact that Zab was like 146 at WW and that people hate on him but could Alexander, Bradley, or anyone else at 140 have beaten those versions of Clottey, Floyd, and Cotto? Hell NO. They wouldnt even have beaten a prime Spinks if you ask me. Now the Baldy loss made him look bad but he was huge himself and I still say he was underrated. He had like 20 pounds on Zab and its clear that Zab never thought he was good at all which hurt him.
People have to truly look at that type of stuff. I didnt even mention the Tsyzu loss. How many of those guys wouldve beaten a prime Tszyu? Come on now. This kid gets hated on for fights that he was supposed to lose anyways. I think you could argue that a 140 pound Zab is P4P better than a Cotto or Clottey but he had no chance against them at WW in there prime. Now you are going to tell me that if he comes back to 140 where he has nice size, will be even faster, and will have alot more pop, that he cant not only win that fight but then beat Bradley & everyone else there? That **** is really possible to me.
I wouldnt be surprised if he looks like a washed up has been but I also wouldnt be shocked if he ran that division and looked like one of the most spectacular fighters in the game. I wouldnt even take the fight if I was team Alexander because its the definiton of high risk/low reward but I guess they want to get Zab back for all the crap he's done in the STL.
Still, I would love to see it and people are insane if they say they dont want to see that fight or see Zab. This isnt the same Zab or same fights. 140 changes everything, atleast on paper. Now again, he truly may be washed up but if he's not then people are going to have hell on there hands because no one at 140 wouldve won those fights that he lost. No one. I was actually just rewatching the Zab-Clottey fight and even then Zab looked ill. Clottey was just too big. Zab didnt belong there but even if that version of Zab goes to 140 then its trouble.
