    If......................

Froch beat Kessler, and Taylor hadn't dropped out and had lost to Ward (probably by decision)...

Kessler vs. Taylor would have been an interesting one. Who would you favor? I would seriously give Taylor a chance. It's not like he's a bad boxer, and he only seems to wilt against a puncher and a pressure fighter. Kessler is a *****, and doesn't really pressure. He might be able to punch early, and get Kessler out of there.

That being said, Kessler isn't a bad technician, he might be able to decision Taylor.

    THOUGHTS?!?

I'd favor Kessler. Taylor has bad stamina and bad defense. I don't see Taylor stopping Kessler, and lack of stamina would keep him from winning on points. It woulda been an entertaining fight but I'd go with Kessler on points. Taylor is a flat footed guy who wouldn't have the movement necessary to outbox Kessler.

It's not like Kessler has slick movement...

I think they'd be toe to toe probably and the first one who's will broke would lose. That's up in the air in my opinion.

Kessler isn't a great technician either. But he's a better boxer than Taylor is. Taylor has fast hands, right hand power, and a strong jab. Not a fight Kessler outclasses him in, but one he wins based on durability. It's an action fight, and Taylor's taken more abuse. His chin isn't that solid. And of course he always gets tired. Kessler can take and avoid punches better than Taylor. And he can go full tilt longer than Taylor can.

I don't think Jermain Taylor has the confidence to stand much a chance against any top level opponent anymore. If he had stayed in the tournament Kessler would have knocked him out, if Ward hadn't retired him first.

            Agree.

Taylor from Pavlik 2 would definitely of had a shot at beaten Kessler, Kessler cant handle movement, he and cant get off when there is a moving target.

Going into the 12th round with Abraham and Frotch I had him up by points. Plus both fights with Pavlik were close. I think Taylor is still a top fighter. The last two knockouts have looked bad. But if his brain is ok I think he can beat Kesslar or anyone else.

Taylor just needed some time off anyway. As it stands Kessler would have been able to outlast him in stamina and would win on points. I hope to see Jermain back in the ring soon.

I can understand having him up against Froch, most people do, but there's no way he was leading on the scorecards going into the 12th against Abraham. Taylor was landing NOTHING of significance the second half of that fight.

Kessler would KO him. Taylor is no Andre Ward.
