I don't think the Jirov fight is that big of a deal to be honest. There was some unfinished business with DM. Even though they couldn't make a deal. I think that one goes both ways. Nobody wanted to leave there country. He also could've fought Tarver. I would've prefered DM or Tarver over Woods. But I also prefer Jirov over Woods, because look how that win helped Toney's career. From what I remember Jirov was trying to find away to get out the Toney fight

I also wish Jones would've fought Collins after he beat Benn and Eubank. But Collins did Calzaghe out of line. A Liles fight was never going to happen with Don King in the way.

With that being said Jones has had a great career. After the third Tarver fight I knew he was done. Couldn't pull the trigger anymore. I also felt he cameback to soon after the 2nd Tarver fight. That was the only reason he lost to Johnson. But I do wish he fought Nunn, Collins and DM. Winning the HW title against Ruiz is probably better than a Jirov fight. Did Jirov even unify at CW. Why didn't he fight Juan Carlos Gomez? But Jones vs Jirov would've been a great fight

Rocchigiani had a chance to fight Jones. He backed out of the fight in 2000. I seen the first fight he had with DM on youtube. That was a bigtime acting job by DM. But to be fair to the German fighters. The WBA and IBF ****ed DM bigtime. The WBC ****ed over rocchigiani

If Jones wasn't DQ'd against Griffin. A lot of **** would've been different

You know there was a rematch clause in the Jones-Toney contract, right?

I'll give a general breakdown here, then when I've got the time i'll type up the whole article about the fight and its aftermath.

Early in the year 94, Jones's team contacted Toney about a possible fight which was agreed on. Toney decided to fight his no 1 contender as a warm up for the Jones fight (1994-07-29 Charles Williams). He then had roughly 4 month after this to get ready for Jones (1994-11-18) . Toney basically allowed himself to balloon up eating junk food and stepped into training camp 6 weeks before the fight weighing around 214 lbs.

During his training camp he rarely spoke about Jones, who he considered a bum and mainly about the top guys in the lhw division, also he was still eating cheeseburgers during his camp

It was after the fight that things started to go to hell, it wasn't just that Toney lost it was the way he lost, that he couldn't cope with. Jackie kallen had a meeting in her home where she said that he should exercise the rematch clause in the contract and fight Jones again, this time watching his diet in between fights. Toney went through the roof screaming that it was her fault for making him fight at such a weight and that the only thing she cared about was the money

Later on that day he told his mom that he was going to shoot Kallen, his mum called her to tell her to run, Kallen called the police, who went looking for Toney, but by that time he had calmed down and was chilling at his house. That was basically the end of the Toney-Kallen relationship. Toney refused to renew his contract with her after it run out. You can see the tension between them during the Griffin I fight.

As for the weight drain story, it wasn't that he was drained, rather it was more about how he decided to rehydrate himself after the weigh in, which was via iv injection and he ended up putting on around 18 lbs of fluid
