BoxingScene.com has been advised that Sebastian Sylvester (33-3, 16 KOs) is likely going to make a mandatory defense of his title against Roman Karmazin (40-3-1, 26 KOs) in St. Petersburg, Russia. Karmazin's promoter, Steve Bash of Bash Boxing, won the IBF's purse bid on Wednesday by putting down a heavy amount of $616,515. The amount was well above the bid of Sauerland Event, who put down $521,414. There is a 75-25 split in favor of the champion.

Shocking that the Russians outbid the Germans. German "champions" almost never fight on the road unless they choose to (Abraham-Miranda II). Nonetheless, IMO Sylvester scores late KO or wins by wide UD because Karmazin is an old junior middleweight (37) who has been showing signs of being shot in recent fights. Sylvester has already proven he can KO old junior middleweights (Castillejo)
