  • Counter Punching 101: Mayweather would still be number 1 p4p if he hadn't retired

-The fact is that had Mayweather not retired he'd still be ranked number 1 by Ring.

-That's why he's ranked so high now. It's not just because he beat the number 2 guy who was a tune up tbh. It's because prior to retirement he was number 1.

-There was no need to "work" up the ladder when you're Mayweather Jr. He's already put in the work. The guy had been on the p4p list since 1998!! That's longer than anyone's ever been on there

I wish I could agree but if Floyd would of stayed in the game and still NOT fight fighters like Cotto, Marg, Williams, or Mosley and Pac went on to do what he recently did the title of P4P would of been taken from Floyd... And lets not forget that Pac was actually behind Floyd before he retired anyway

it all depends on who he fought and how well he did during those 2 years though.

yeah but reality strikes and he is now #2 P4P fighter...But IF pac loses to clottey (which i really doubt will happen) then the winner of Shane vs Floyd will be crowned #1 P4P King

It would depend on what he did but he would still be really high if he fought a couple times a year during that layoff.

The reason he is number two now though is correct it is basically based off reputation and the fight against JMM did nothing to change the view of him.

                P4P is imaginary. Who cares?

I'm confident he would have fought big $$ fights which means he would have been fighting popular fighters which are ranked high.
