I'm not that high on Brook.
He gets hit a bit too much, his hands are often low and his chin is occassionally on a plate. Far worse than all these things is in his last fight his workrate rapidly dropped after 3 rounds and his power seemed to go the same way. There could be reasons for that but it was a not great performance from Brook in his last outing. At times he looks a bit stiff to me.
He's accurate and has good pop, a good jab and great straight right. Other than that there has to be a lot of question marks.
He needs to fight Jennings which actually is a significant step-up. Jennings has clever movement a decent enough jab and sound boxing skills, he also has excellent stamina and a fairly good chin. Jennings is a good test.Comment

i dont even think he'd be ready for that caliber opponent at this point.
he needs a better trainer ASAP.
for anyone to say that he'd beat cotto right now is pretty damn ridiculous.Comment

I was excited about Brook when I first saw him because I'd heard about him but not seen him. You can see the talent is there. But personally, I can't see any improvement really.
It may just be down to the opponent not bringing it out of him but I dunno.
I'm more excited about a lot of the other British prospects.
Brook is with the Ingle's they are good trainers imo and he's been there for a life time so no need to change it now. I don't think it would do him much good.Comment

honestly, i think its the trainer. ingle tries to impose his style on his fighters instead of maximizing their ability by creating a style that caters to them.I was excited about Brook when I first saw him because I'd heard about him but not seen him. for example, theres absolutely no reason for kell to switch hit, when he's MUCH better fighting orthodox.
ingle doesnt know sht about defense either. i mean, at least teach the kid to keep his hands up when he's in punching range.Comment

You could be right. But Ingle fighters especially one's like Brook who has basically lived out of that gym have so many quirks and kinks that it may not be beneficial to iron out.honestly, i think its the trainer. ingle tries to impose his style on his fighters instead of maximizing their ability by creating a style that caters to them.

You're standard Ingle fighter is awkward and whose idea of defence is to use his legs and his upper body movement to get out of the way. There not always defensively bad, Johnny Nelson did okay and he threw punches as if they were winning lottery tickets and managed to hold a world title in a string of some of the most boring fights I ever saw.Comment
