Completely different. Tarver's was an overhand left counter. Del Valle was a lead one-two. Different type of punches, scenarios, you name it. Jones was left seeing stars from the Tarver punch whereas the Del Valle punch stunned him, at best.

Which is the damn point here. A drained RJ beat Tarver. Why are there people who think Tarver would have any chance against pre-Ruiz Roy Jones? It's ridiculous.

Yeah it is. I don't see Tarver landing a lucky punch every time certainly not against a faster more agile Jones. Tarvers tactics in the first fight was only partially succesfull because of Roy being drained and needing to go to the ropes.

I don't care if all Tarver had to do was beat Harding or that he fought him right after. This tells me all I need to know about Roy's championship attitude.

I was giving him the benefit of the doubt against Calzaghe, but I won't. They're both the same outside of the ring.

Tarver has had success with his left his whole career lol. Don't think he had an epiphany during Jones I. He countered a missed straight right with a left and found Roy's chin.

As for Tarver's problem, I don't think it was either although mentally I find him a bit fragile. But he's had a fine career. Three time LHW champ and beat a slew of good fighters in the process: Harding, Griffin, Jones, Glen Johnson, Woods, etc.

1st post here, im a massive roy jones fan so il get that out the way.
jones vs traver 1 - roy won the fight but like everyone knows traver threw the fight away it was his for the taken.
jones vs traver 2 - { loved travers question before the fight ha ha} traver land a prefect shot and i think if roy had been hit like that by anyone through out his career it would of had the same out come and i dont belive the excuse of beening weight drained cause you cant fight the 1st fight like he did and not complain about it
jones vs traver 3 - jones was fighting himself in this one just trying not to be stopped i guess it must be hard when everyone builds you up to be the greatest then you get KOd twice.
All in all i still think roy would of beat traver 9/10 times but you never know thats whats great about boxing

Jones was looking to buy time for two reasons. One - he had two mandatories simultaneously. Which is why he agreed to fight the winner of the box-off. Two - his next date in the fall was a PPV and he was buying time in search of a better dance partner.

True. But as a counter puncher he would notice patterns and see what particular attacks his opponents are vunerable too.

His career is not done yet it seems that he is willing to go up to hw to fight Toney or was planning to. I dont know how this whole Toney UFC thing will affect things.
