    Alexander v Urango early stoppage

Watched the fight last night, enjoyable affair indeed, just wanted your opinions dudes.

I dont know I kinda felt the ref couldve let Urango have one more go after his second knockdown, he seemed to be up early with his arms above his head ready to fight until the ref waved it.

The second flooring seemed to be more a glancing temple blow that I feel Urango may have shaken off possibly, taking nothing away from Alexander though he looked a better class to me.

Great stoppage and we need more referee like that who was able to recognise that urango was way out of it.

I agree, he was doing some weird blinking **** and letting him carry on would just have resulted in another knockdown.

It felt a little early to me but not enough to complain about it, Urango was seriously hurt by that monster uppercut, it was early in the round too so it would of been hard for him to get his legs back I think.

I just think yknow IBF champ, got up to win agaist a tough puncher in his previous fight, did he have a right to go out on his pants rather than being waved off?

a telltale sign that a fighter is more hurt than they let on is when they are blinking almost uncontrollably. It usually shows that a fighter is not aware of his bearings and that his thought process is still clouded to the point where they may not be aware of whats going on.

while Urango got up and had his hands raised up he was blinking badly and looked disoriented. A lot of fighters just by instinct raise their hands up even if they are in no shape to go on

it was a perfect stoppage IMO

Some people have this pre-conceived idea that a good stoppage is when a fighter is laid out unconscious on the ropes taking shots left, right and centre. A stoppage isn't much good when the damage has been done, which has proven true in too many rings tragedies.
A good stoppage is a referee recognising that a fighter is not winning a fight, he's taking some bad shots, he's hit the canvas already and behind the brave front that fighter is showing, is a beaten fighter who's heart will jeopardise his safety, and that any more shots taken could ultimately harm the fighter's well being. The Urango stoppage was a good stoppage, the ref recognised that whilst Urango wasn't completely gone, he had no more business in the fight and any further shots would put Urango down for the count and could have severe implications on his safety. The fight was one sided, and Devon was in full control and had just put Urango down twice. So why risk the safety of the Urango?
