Taiwan and Japan got hit by earthquakes recently too. I really hope California doesn't get hit.
After Haiti and Chille, Big Earthquake Will Hit California

Doesn't matter how well we build our structures, a big enough earthquake will knock anything down.Comment

****s going down with Earth's tectonic plates lately. Haiti 7.8 earthquake, then Japan 6.7, then Chile 8.2 and now Turkey with a 5.7 earthquake.
I would not be surprised one bit if California gets a bad one this year.Comment

No, this is a bad assumption. Earthquakes are not connected to one another; the fact that significantly sized earthquakes struck in Haiti and Chile were by mere coincidence (they are on different plates!). Besides, there are earthquakes all the time - google California earthquake to see the USGS recordings. California is expecting a 7.0 or greater earthquake, however, when it strikes cannot be accurately predicted. The only time frame given is that by 2030 the certainty of there being a 7.0 or greater is 99.99999% or something along those lines, I don't know how far to carry the 9's.Comment
