Not as well as if he retired after regaining the LHW title from beating Tarver after dropping down..

If he had fought someone liked David Tua and retired afterwards, then he would have been more of a legend to me than he is now. Just like two or three more top heavyweights would have made him up there with Ray Leonard.

Just think about it. John Ruiz, James Toney, David Tua and maybe even Rahman or something...That would be a statement right there...

Roy Jones is one of the greatest fighters to ever lace em up. I'm confident in that.

But, had he retired after Tarver I, he would be remebered as THE GOAT. At least in the eyes of most of the public and a lot of the experts.

I still think that he will be remembered well as have so many other greats who fought on too long. History will soon repeat itself. Nobody remembers old SRL or the old Ali. They will forget the old ghost of Roy Jones as well and remember him for the legend he is.

I would view him as slightly less then i do today. After Ruiz he has shown determination that he never needed to do in his prime.

I love it how people act like Jones is the first great fighter to keep going well past his best.

The greatest of them all have experienced bad losses at the back ends of their careers. Its the nature of the beast.

Its not what people will talk about when the name Roy Jones gets mentioned in 20 or 30 years time.

He answered the only question that had been asked of him his whole career after the Ruiz fight. We all knew he was talented we wanted to see how he dealt with adversity and he showed us in Tarver 1. For the people who call him chinny based on his performance at 35 years of age we see them on these boards everyday and real boxing fans know how far their boxing knowledge extends(Hint-They are usually the same people who start 7 threads on the same topic each day)

Roy is the best boxer that I saw, then Leonard, Whittaker and more. I would like to withdraw, for their well being, but what you are doing now, he did not remove antes.Lo only thing it might claim to Roy are at their peak a few fights as Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Sven Ottke, Joe Calzaghe, Steve Collins, Michael Nunn, Dariusz Michalczewski, Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, Hasim Rahman, Evander Holyfield, Bernard Hopkins II, James Toney II at CW, Vassiliy Jirov, Gerald McClellan, Iran Barkley. I think if you win, 5 or 6 of these guys that I see with the only difficulty is with Lennox Lewis, Roy would be the best ever
