Comments Thread For: Darchinyan Retains the Crown...Will Donaire Go After it?

By Cliff Rold - Armenian 34-year old lineal World Jr. Bantamweight Champion Vic Darchinyan (34-2-1, 27 KO) of Sydney, Australia, was the first man to unify the IBF (since vacated), WBC and WBA title at 115 lbs. but there’s another first which looms.

Darchinyan would like to avenge his first defeat at the hands of talented Filipino Nonito Donaire.

On Saturday night at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California, Darchinyan did his part to keep the hopes for that rematch alive, boxing to a commanding unanimous decision win over inexperienced but immensely courageous 22-year old challenger Rodrigo Guerrero (13-2-1, 9 KO) of Mexico City, Mexico.

Darchinyan weighed in for the bout at the division limit of 115 lbs., Guerrero a pound under at 114. It was Darchinyan’s third successful defense of the title he unified in 2008, only the second time Darchinyan has been the twelve round distance in fourteen title fights, and the first victory over that span of rounds. whether darchinyan's coming forward or trying to box like he did tonight. hes getting KTFO.
his opponent was extremely green and was still able to rock vic early in the fight.

vic still leaves himself wide open..i cant believe an inexperienced guy with only 15 fights took him the distance,,i don't see vic beating donaire,,,there is no attractive fight at 115 anyways,so maybe a rematch would be the best although i really don't see the need for donaire to give him one since it wasn't a controversial win,he ko'd him....i don't think vic is really a 118,it showed against yonny perez, unless he'd like to fight winner of perez/mares,anyways,i think he loses to any of the champs at 118 and donaire will beat him again..just stay at 115,nobody there is any good

                    What a beat down!

Talk about a pounding!..Guerrero took a beating & 1/2!...Guerrero took everything Darchinyan gave him, but if he keeps taking beating's like that he ain't going to last long in this type of a career....Someone needs to tell this kid not to block punches with his face!....Hopefully the rematch between Donaire & Darchinyan is next...
