At the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California, lightweight contender Lenny Zappavigna (23-0, 15 KOs) picked up a twelve round unanimous decision over Fernando Angulo (22-7, 14 KOs) to win the vacant IBO title. The scores were 116-111, 116-111, and 114-113. The fight had a lot of action with the Zappavigna controlling the majority of the first half and Angulo coming back in the late rounds to make it close. Zappavigna was able to hang on and stayed composed to win.

Does this mean, Darch vs Donaire is next? Hope Donaire would jump to Bantamweight and fight Montiel, Hasagawa or Agbeko is I think more interesting to watch. If not, then he should uproot Darch from Superfly ASAP!

Zappa got a gift. Angulo deserved the decision.
