Why in the world did Khan leave Frank Warren? I honestly think Warren did a tremendous job guiding Khans caeer. For the first couple of pro fights in his career he put him in against good old grizzled veterans. He did a good job o putting him in againt Graham Earl in his birthday in what was seen as a risky fight at the time only to have Khan KO him in a single round. He then had 3 more fights two which were veterans Gairy St. Clair and Michael Gomez, which he handled the two with ease. Then in his PPV debut in the UK he was cushed in a single round Breidis Prescott. This is where Warrens promoting skills came into play. He put him in there with Oisin ***an while he thought what to do next and let Khan get back into winning column. He then set up a great crossroads fight against faded ring legend Barrera in what was great matchmaking and a great confidence builder for Khan. Just as Golden Boy had Victor Ortiz ready to fight 140lb champ Kotelnik Warren sneaked up from right under tem and stole Kotelnik from them, as they both saw Kotelnik as somewhat of an easy way to the championship for both their young fighters. Khan beat Kotelnik rather easily, while GBP had Ortiz battered by Kotelnik-beaten Marcos Maidana. Warren then set up Khans last fight with him (which he didn't know at the time) against Dimitriy Salita in which Khan blasted out Salita in a single round. Khan then left Warren for Golden Boy. Why??? Warren built him all the way back up from that loss to Prescott all the way to being rated #2 at Jr. WW by the Ring only behind Timothy Bradley. Meanwhile GBP promoted Ortiz is nowhere near rated in the Ring Top Ten and GBP hs had trouble building him back up. And now Khan has a potential date with Paulie Malignaggi, really amazes me. Warren would of done better for Khans next fight.
Why did Khan leave Warren???

wazaa, It is not me but he left a great post. So maybe great minds think alike and don't use paragraphs.
He pretty well described Khan's padded and protected career to date but unlike me who dislikes Warren's management style praised it as being good for Khan.Comment

I very much doubt Warren had the leverage to pull off the convoluted get out of your mandatory Maidana duck deal that GBP managed to pull off. Had Khan stayed with Warren my guess is he would have been forced to fight Maidana or give up the title. With GBP he gets out of the fight and gets to keep his title and choose who he fights. Who knows but maybe this was a big selling point that GBP brought to the table that made Khan sever his ties with Warren.Comment

Khan's dream is to become an american star and he feels Golden Boy can do a better job of accomplishing that than Frank Warren. Khan knows Oscar is a big time name in the sport and if he's promoting him that means something in america (at least in Khan's way of thinking).Comment

Couldn't he at least have gotten a guarantee to fight JMM instead of waiting until signing with GBP and discovering JMM didn't want the fight.
Calzaghe did it with Warren and came here and fought Hopkins. Maybe Warren would of been more able to the JMM fight together then GBP.Comment

GBP really pulled a stroke in getting Maidana to sell himself short.Comment
