The Most Underrated P4P Fighter Is Oscar De La Hoya

No one On here ever seems to respect oscar or look at his achievements...majority of people on here seem to look down on oscar either then look at what he has achieved in boxing when he was still in the buisness..I might be a Bernard Hopkins Fan but i still think Oscar deserves more credit..

    Oscar Beat The Following:

    Jeff Mayweather
    Julio Cesar Chavez
    Pernell Whitaker
    Arturo Gatti
    Fernando Vargas
    Ricardo Mayorga
    Felix Strum

I respect Oscar, he was a great super feather, lightweight, super lightweight and welterweight. I loved his performance against a roid-enhanced, unbelievably strong Fernando Vargas in 02 at 154 as well. He won the gold medal in the Olympic and world titles in 6 divisions. I think he went something like 200-6 as an amatuer as well. And he made a crapload of money. So it's hard to knock him.

He also beat Quartey, Camacho, Leija etc. and fought Hopkins, Mosley, Trinidad, Pacquiao, Mayweather.

Oscar fought everybody. He is the man.

Not for nothing but those wins really aren't that impressive. Oscar's best win is Quartey and probably Ruelas.

I'd say Quartey is up there too. I wouldn't even mention Jeff Mayweather

Seriously. More important than who is when. And while those are nice names, when and where he fought them is a lot more telling.

                  I actually think he's overrated.

He lost all his big fights, except for the Vargas one. Although I think he was robbed against Tito. But he also got gift decisions against Whittaker and Sturm.

The casual boxing fans loved him because he was a clean cut light skin Mexican-American who won gold for them in the Olympics. He spoke perfect English and Spanish and he wasn't hard to look at either.

Good boxing skills, amazing power, great chin and great drawing power. But I think they rate him too high in the alltime ranking list.

Not to mention he got gifts for the Pernell Whitaker, Felix Sturm and Ike Quartey fights. I personally don't care too much for Oscar, and I believe he gets more credit for being a great fighter than he deserves. I think he was a good fighter, but not a great fighter. But I do give him all the credit in the world for fighting the best fighters of his time. Hell even past his time, he still went after the best.
