Comments Thread For: Juan Urango Can Spring The Upset - And Here's Why

By Lee Groves - I’m not usually one to predict upsets but I see the potential for one Saturday night when Juan Urango and Devon Alexander seek to unify the IBF and WBC junior welterweight titles. I was surprised to learn that Alexander was a prohibitive –450 favorite over Urango, who was listed as a +300 proposition. To my mind’s eye this is no cakewalk for Alexander, who is unusual in that he affixes his nickname – "The Great" – to the end of his surname instead of sandwiching his sobriquet like everyone else. Yes I don't think this will be a walk through for Alexander and if he can't keep his distance or doesn't handle pressure well either then it could be a short night for him.

Its surprising how heavily favored he is when he is very untested still because Witter seemed to wilt so easily and we don't know about what he has in terms of intangibles yet.

Didn't think Alexander would be that much of a favorite myself, might be worth a bet with those kind of odds.

Never seen Alexander in action before.

He a slick fighter? Thought he was a puncher ala Cotto type but idk.

I think Urango has a better chance against Alexander than he did against Hatton or Berto, but I don't see him winning this fight. What is sad is that everyone is affraid of Tim Bradley and HBO or the other "name fighters" in the division won't give him a fight. Golden Girl will do there best to protect Khan. Mali***gi wouldn't beat Bradley. Top Rank is scared of Valero getting his ass beat. If Golden Girl won't risk Khan losing, then I'll doubt they will risk Ortiz, or even Maidana since apparently Khan Maidana is the fight to build, so hopefully Alexander wins and Shaw and King can set up Bradley Alexander.

Id luv for urango to pull off an upset but dont see it happening

i think devon will outbox him for 6 rounds and then clinch for the remainder of the fight

Alexander doesn't have much power but he is a brilliant boxer, very fast. He's green though so this will be a big test for him.
