The answer is simple. That is exactly what Pac fans have been doing for months. Pac fans had no trouble talking about how Pac/Cotto outsold Mayweather/Marquez. They had no trouble talking about the number of people who showed up at the Pac/Cotto press conference to see Pac. They had no trouble talking trash when they thought that Pac/Cotto would sell 2 million PPVs. They had no trouble talking about how the Pac/Cotto fight "sold out" (even though it didn't) while Mayweather/Marquez didn't come close to selling out. So, in other words, Pac fans had no issues talking numbers when they thought they could use them to point out how superior Pac was to Mayweather. Now, suddenly, numbers don't matter.

You'd be surprised what HBO exposure does to a fighter's popularity. My friends are casual fans. They know Clottey just because of his war with Cotto. HBO exposure is huge in boxing because some people's exposure to boxing is only HBO fights.
