Why does Amir Khan wear 10 oz gloves and not 8 oz gloves?

All the way up to the Prescott fight Amir used to wear 8 oz gloves. He threw faster combinations and his punches did more damage as well. However, after the Prescott loss he started to wear 10 oz gloves. Did he do this so that he can cover up better because of the bigger size gloves?

I think a fast puncher like Amir, who can throw all kinds of combinations in matter of seconds would be better of with smaller size gloves (8oz). Do you agree?

i think above lightweight, the regulation size gloves are 10 oz and its up to the fighters to negotiate 8 oz.

8oz gloves up to WW with exemption to some states like Vegas where fighters are to wear 10oz at WW but can be bypassed if both parties agree to wear 8oz gloves. IMO Khan is wearing 10oz so he can negotiate with other camps to wear the same for added protection for himself.
