The reason why he got swollen so fast was because he only had like 4 days to a week to rest from his previouse fight. Look at MAnfredos eyes and alfonso's, they both had black eyes from their previouse fights. If they had a good amount of time to rest and regenerate im sure he would have done alot better.

I do think he has a career, he's the type of fightr that fans would want to see b/c of his style. We can't really tell all that much b/c of the edits but i think he would continue to do well.

Gomez should fight at a lower weight.

For those of you who watch the Contender what do you think of Alfonso Gomez!!! He is the smallest guy there and did well.. If his conditioning was better he would have beaten Manfredo again.. I think this kid has alot of potential to go places.. What say you?
They edit a lot on the show. From what I've seen the guy seems to be an offensive tactician. He appears to be able to throw combinations from multiple angles. He mixes up his punches well. Hard to tell about his defensive skills but what I saw seemed OK. I have to agree that he may have a stamina problem, but we never got to see a whole round to get an accurate judgment on how much energy he is expending per round. It may be that he's not pacing himself.

In all I thought he was one of the better fighters and without question one of the most humble and classy.

Thats true. Gomez was smallest fighter of them all so it wasn't really fair. He did pretty good for being the underdog and definately had heart in that rematch with Manfredo. Just needs to work on stamina.

a great fighter with a big heart and the right attitude.

with some proper conditioning, i think he can be a real contender.

i agree with this... ahmed said alfonso did not have any power but almost knocked kaddour out... if alfonso gets in better shape and trims down the his fats, then he should qualify for a lower class wherein his power could be a lot more...

I feel bad that he had to fight Manfredo again, after he already beat him once and sent him home, he landed some big shots in their 2nd fight, and looked to be a good fighter. I think he has a future in boxing.
