Is Moving Up In Weight A Bad Idea?

For some fighters moving up in weight is a good thing but its seems like alot of fighters would have been better off if they just stayed were they started. Think about all the great fighters like for example Roy and Oscar who moved up and suceeded but eventually paid the price for it. My question is would great fighters be better off to stay in one weight class were their comfortable(ex.Bernard Hopkins)or keep moving up to see what they can do? Its a complicated question because it doesn't apply to all for example Mayweather and Judah are doing better in the higher weight classes.

      What do you think?

I want to see champs move down in weight classes to win belts. Like Tua competing at middleweight.
