There's a lot of tension between both camps. I just don't like the guy. He's very arrogant. Inside the ring I hate him even more.
De La Hoya's dislike for Chavez began after their last fight, Chavez said that De La Hoya never hurt him and that the cut was there before the fight. De La Hoya's feelings intensified during the news media tour to promote the rematch. He said he never really tried to get close to Chavez, because he didn't like his arrogance and Chavez didn't do his part to help promote the bout.
Also before the rematch, Chavez invited Oscar to attend his birthday party in Mexico, well Oscar attended and said Chavez treated people like **** and took advantage of his hero status, Oscar said he saw a guy kneel down and tied Chavez shoe's, Oscar said, when I saw him treating people like that I wanted to punish him, you dont treat people that way. Specially if they see you as a hero.
