Comments Thread For: Joe Greene Bolts From Warriors, Eyes a New Direction

A disgruntled and inactive Joe Greene Jr. has bought his way out of his contract with Warriors Boxing and signed a multi-year deal with The Empire Sports and Entertainment Inc, BoxingScene.com has learned. The Queens-based boxer, who has been plagued by health issues and promotional backbiting, has not fought since June 19 of last year and is antsy to jump-start his career again. He is also trying to put what his camp perceives as past missteps behind them.

He is decent but I am pretty certain would have gotten beaten by Sergio had he been healthy and Cintron not replaced him.

Good for Green. This kid was a top prospect a few years ago but has been waaaaay inactive. Hopefully he can get his career on track and we can see what this kid can do.

LOL, Joe Greene fought Delray Raines (his last opponent) from Paris, Arkansas (the top "Trailer Park Trash Champion") and took him the distance, even losing a round or 2. Delray Raines only wins come from 1-12 fighters, even Buddy Mcgirt's son knocked him out in the 1st.

Me and Joe are cool...he deff has been out the ring too long...hopefully he gets busy this year...been heard about the April 2nd date...

Martinez is better than him but Joe could crack him if they were in a slugfest...

good move Joe,when your career is in a log jam, you have to do something. doing nothing was no longer a viable offer. best of luck Joe Green deserves his due.

Joe Green's problem is Joe Green. Not himself, but his lunatic father. That is who he has to distance himself from.

Joe Greene being stuck on the ESPN2 level has nothing to do with Warriors' alleged mishandling of his career - it has everything to do with the fact that Joe Greene is an ESPN2-level fighter.

Barely. Taking Delray Raines the distance and losing even a round to him indicates there's no real future at the top for Greene.
