GL: What's the latest and greatest and when can we expect you back in the ring? " I'm working all that now. We're working some things out and I think we're going to get some fights going real soon."
GL: I understand you've been talking to Bob Arum and there's a pretty good chance you could be returning on the Cotto-Foreman card at Yankee Stadium. Can you give us some thoughts on that and tell us how that came to pass?
Winky Wright: "A good friend of mine got in touch with Bob Arum for me and Bob is interested in doing something with me and we're working on finalizing the right situation so we can move forward and to great business. Bob got the fighters I need to fight and he can make it happen."
GL: Obviously you mean Cotto at 154 or Pavlik at 160.
WW: "That's right."
GL: Do you have a preference between the two?
WW: "Cotto. I think he's a bigger draw and it would be a huge fight in New York City. Pavlik is also a good fight. He's the middleweight champion, but I want to do whatever the fans want to see."
GL: It's been a while since you've lost a round to Puerto Rican, so there would be a lot of people looking to Cotto to exact revenge for Trinidad.
WW: "That's true. (laughs) It is what it is. If that's what they want let's get it going."
GL: Closing thoughts?
WW: "I'm hoping to make an official announcement soon. Bob is out of town right now, but we're working to see what's out there for me to help me further my career and back on top where I belong."
