Comments Thread For: Darren Barker set to fight in April; has faith in Hennessy

Darren Barker finished 2009 in style by clinically dissecting Danny Butler over seven-rounds in December. Barker, 27, has been quiet since then and many British fans have asked when and where ‘Dazzling’ will be in action as promoter Mick Hennessy’s lack of a TV deal starts to bite on his glittering stable of boxing talent. He should try to sort something out with Macklin, Moore or Rhodes (the latter two are at 154, but have fought above that several times).

After all of the back and forth about Macklin-Pirog, Barker should try and get a fight with either of them if they're without an opponent.

I read in boxing news or one of them that that's what Barker was looking at.

It's a shame about the lack of tv deal.

The Beeb are really pissing me off. Barker could be someone they get behind. He is almost certainly going to be involved in some high-profile domestic clashes and will more than likely fight for a world-title within the next two years. The Beeb are all about covering boxing live on five live and they really offer good coverage but they won't spend our taxes on real coverage. Boxing is a no-brainer - people watch it.

I like Macklin but Barker would take him apart. I think he's too good for Lee and Duddy too.
