But he can't adjust and always runs out of gas...kinda sad actually.
Jermain Taylor was probably the most talented guy in the super 6...

Thats not true. Taylor was a better athlete than he was boxer.
He never fixed all the things he did wrong and it cost him later in his career.
I think he was the most raw fighter of the 6. -
He is technically sound in many ways. Which is why I think he got the wins over Hopkins, as Nard usually relies on picking on guys weaknesses.
You could make a case for Ward being more talented in a few area's, possibly even Kessler. But I agree, all round he was one of the soundest technically.
I still think he's been completely sacked off by people. You don't win a lot of a rounds against Froch and Abraham if your shot and ****. He's not as gone as people make out. Just awful fights for him, ones it ain't good to gas against.Last edited by Kris Silver; 02-22-2010, 06:31 PM.Comment

Yeah, I sorta agree. Reminds me of Rid**** Bowe, the way they just never seemed to get away from throwing that looping overhand right.
Taylor had a great jab though, when he used it. I've seen him stop Hopkins and Froch, both of whom I consider to have very good chins, dead in the tracks with it.
I think Ward and Dirrell have more talent than him too.Comment

Nard lost those fights cuz' he didn't throw any punches. Taylor is not talented, he is athletic. He is technically sound in many ways. Which is why I think he got the wins over Hopkins, as Nard usually relies on picking on guys weaknesses.

He throws a decent jab but he overshoots his right hand and is generally sloppy and off balance w/ all his other punches.Comment

I agree that's why the Hopkins fight suited him. He didn't have as much pressure tiring him out, and late on Hopkins didn't press him too hard. Whereas the opposite is true with Froch and Abraham. They're awkward in a different way, and Jermain could be roughed up by them later on.
I was careful not to say he's talented too because I wouldn't say he is so much, or that he's gifted. He's just good at what he does and he is fairly sound technically I feel. Fairly orthodox and consistent. Thing is he needed to adapt, be tougher, and not gas to be more resilient.Comment

No he wasn't. AA, Ward, and Dirrell are better than Taylor. Taylor was the biggest star and had the best resume in the tournament though.Comment

Fair enough. I like Taylor a lot, but he frustrated me a lot because he never fixed the holes in his game.I agree that's why the Hopkins fight suited him. What he had in athleticism he lacked in boxing IQ imo.Comment
