The Puerto Rican press has confirmed that Felix "Tito" Trinidad has officially retired from the sport of boxing. This is the second time that Trinidad has retired, the first time being in 2002.
Trinidad came out of retirement in 2004 because he said that he cut his career off too short and wanted big fights. Initially his comeback bout was booked against Shane Mosley, after Winky Wright upset Mosley, Trinidad picked Ricardo Mayorga as his comeback opponent. After picking Mayorga apart last October, Trinidad pursued a fight with Winky Wright. This past Saturday, Winky Wright defeated Trinidad in embarrassing fashion by sweeping all 12 rounds with very little competition from Tito.
