    def a good rule
    but what they should do also
    is have the ref carry around a lil bottle of water with him
    so when the moutpiece comes out
    he rinses it off and puts it right back in
    not allowing the corners to buy more time

He also suggested that action should not be stopped to deduct a point when a foul is not a time issue for the person fouled (ie spitting out mouthguard) and only stopped to give the fouled person a rest. The ref would let the crowd and the judges know between rounds. I agree with both positions.
      This a good idea but then there will **** pulled off with guys saying the ref druged me or put tabasco sauce on the mouth piece or some ****. I think a guy should be disqualified if he does it twice. FIrst one let him slide but as soon as he does it again its over,this is a sign of quiting and should be stopped.

        the simple solution is not to put it back in after a KD... the rule is to wait for a lull in the action to re-insert the mouthpiece.... after a knockdown, there is definately no lull in the action... fighters will stop taking it out, if they know the ref isn't going to put it back in...

          How and the fu** would castillo have won other wise, you act like the ref put the mouthpiece back in before he started counting...What's the main thing they say in boxing..."A boxer is the most dangerous when they are hurt" I think castillo forgot about that and ran up on some bombs and got quitted in the fight...
          he spit it out 3 times. In the 8th round i believe it came out too..a couple seconds before it came out it looked like he was thinking about spitting it out.. IM sure goosen told him if your in trouble just spit out the mouthpiece

            I prefer your options too, ans sometimes it happens, when the referee doesn't see the mouthpiece fly.

              I got a better idea to solve this whole problem. There should be a bucket of feces by the ring. A fighter gets to lose the mouthpiece once. After that the mouthpiece is dipped in the bucket and the fighter has to put it back in or be DQ.

                If he hadnt spit it out, then got knocked out, the fight wouldnt have had this hollywood ending that people have been raving about. It woudl have just been another action packed fight with a knockout. Instead, we get that great twist in the end. This of course is coming from someone who didnt really care who won. So for me, it was just a great fight with a surprise, twist , of an ending. I actually liked it this way.

                  True...maybe take the pts. after the round instead of in the middle of it. The judges would have to be notified until they got used to that system. But like Bomber said, if they spit it out twice they should stop the fight..that signals giving up in alot of cases.
