Nevada now has a rule for spitting out mouthpiece.

Two points will now be deducted in Nevada when a fighter intentionally spits out a mouthpiece after a knockdown to buy extra time.

Good rule that should have a fighter think twice about it. Though if a fighter is far behind by the 8th or 9th round, they may not give two craps about winning on the cards and may do it for a knockout.

Good thing. Corrales a ***** for doing that 3 times. And Castillo would have won otherwise.

      hmm

Although this is a step in the right direction, more needs to be done. The whole issue can easily be solved by making the fighter fight without his mouthpiece if he decideds to spit it out.

I dont think 2 points matters in some cases..they should really make them fight without it

He spit the mouth piece out twice pu$$y...If you didn't have your head so far up john ruiz's a$$ you would have seen it...
How and the fu** would castillo have won other wise, you act like the ref put the mouthpiece back in before he started counting...What's the main thing they say in boxing..."A boxer is the most dangerous when they are hurt" I think castillo forgot about that and ran up on some bombs and got quitted in the fight...

It should be just like any other foul in boxing, get a warning for doing it once, deduct points for doing it again, disqualification for doing it repeatedly, they only reason people are making such a bog deal of this, is because castillo got himself knocked out...

I think taking points is a good rule. Think about it, If the fighter is hurt he can be knocked out easier. The only reason Corrales went down the second time was because he was still hurt from the first Knockdown, after he bought time. Imagine if he had just gotten up and Castillo could have planted one on him, it would have been over.

I dunno... If you get knocked down, taking the mouth piece out is a natural reaction.... You need to suck up that air!

And Corrales did say that he took the mouth piece and then dropped it... But at the time, was more worried about getting up before the count of ten than scurrying around on the floor looking for the gum shield.
