When Barry Hunter, trainer/manager of junior welterweight Lamont Peterson, got a call from Top Rank with an offer to fight hard-punching Edwin Valero - a big smile ran ran across his face. The unbeaten Venezuelan is targeting the big fights at junior welterweight, and Peterson is the likely opponent to test Valero's potential at 140-pounds. [Click Here To Read More]

I hear of a lot of people saying this is a good fight, and I don't know why. Bradley wiped the floor with Peterson. I don't know why people excuse scenarios of where boxers coming off losses get rewarded with a fight against a big name opponent. Arum is the promoter who does this the most. If the fight was competitive that the guy lost like Martinez against Williams, I could maybe see it. But not in this case. Peterson needs to get to the back of the line. And Valero looks bad for fighting Peterson.

peterson will not fight the way he did vs bradley. he will box vs valero and i'd give him a good chance of beating him.
great stylistic match-up and a stern test for valero.

He's unproven at the wieght and this is a good way too see if he can hang with the best at 140.
Peterson seems like a solid fighter And if Valero can KO him that's extremely impressive.
You're correct if he's not moving up on weight.

I'm a fan of both so I want this fight to happen.

This is a great fight for both fighters,,This fight could show Valero, what he can actually do at 140,, Peterson is a solid fighter at 140, he's a accurate puncher with a very good jab, doesn't have really much head movement or footwork but likes to **** inside especially to the body. Valero advantages are his hand speed and his footwork and could actually give peterson a hard time with his speed...Peterson is a tough fight for anyone, but Valero must win impressively if he wants to take on the best at 140...This is definetly a step up fight for Valero...

peterson has better footwork than valero. he has virtually every single physical advantage in this matchup, other than power.

Valero by TKO. I like Timmy Bradley and think he is a masterful fighter, but if Drago from Rocky IV averages 1850 pounds per square inch, i say bradley is right around 420 PPSI. Peterson getting Wobbled quite a few times by Bradley, including a KnockDown, is leading me to believe Valero WOuld put Peterson down a few times en route to a TKO stoppage. Peterson was very brave and showed tremendous Heart against Bradley, but looks to slow and has trouble with movement. To me, Valero has quicker hands better footwork and tenfold Punching Power than Bradley, but is so gung ho on offensive, he leaves himself open for Counters. Valero will at least Double the punch output of Bradley but because of this is, Edwin is much easier to hit than Bradley, which is ironic considering Timmys Huge Skull. But what makes Valero so fun to watch is that fact he fights with such reckless abandon its hard not to be entertained. Would be a hell of a fight while it lasts, which is about 8 rounds.
