WBCBoxing.tv will present live boxing webcasts – free of charge – of two fight cards on Saturday, February 20. Everyone is invited to watch. Please note: the webcasts are not available in Mexico. WBC President José Sulaiman said today, “WBCBoxing.tv and Suljos.tv intend to be the future of boxing, to give opportunities to all those in the world who don’t have opportunities. My objective is to make professional boxing available not only in the countries where they are held, but in all the countries of the world that would like to see it via the internet. As I have said before, the webcasts are intended to compliment, not compete with televised boxing.”
The first webcast, from Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico, will be shown from 9:00 to 10:30 P.M. (21:00 to 22:30 hrs) Central Standard Time. Featured fights will be televised in Mexico on Cadena Tres. Headlining the show, Manuel “Menny” Jimenez, 7-0 with 2 knockouts, of Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, will face Osvaldo “Drakis” Ibarra, 4-8-1 with 3 knockouts, of Tijuana, B.C., Mexico. Jimenez, a pro since July, 2008, is coming off one of his career-best wins in his last fight on New Year’s day in Mexicali – a seventh-round knockout against Armando Vazquez, who entered the fight with a record of 15-2.

The second webcast, from Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico, will begin at 10:30 P.M. (22:30 hrs) Central Standard Time. It will be televised in Mexico on Televisa. In the main event scheduled for 12 rounds, Giovani “The Aztec Warrior” Segura, 22-1-1 with 18 knockouts, now living in Bell, California, will make his third defense of the WBA light-flyweight world title against Walter “El Raton de Oro” (The Golden Mouse) Tello, 14-3 with 6 knockouts, of Panama City, Panama.

Segura was born and raised in Ciudad Altamirano, a small city of around 25,000 near Acapulco, and moved with his family to California when he was 15. At the final press conference in Acapulco on Wednesday, he said, “I’m fighting in front of my own people for the first time and I will not let them down. I have come back as a champion and will remain their champion.”

In the co-featured fight on the webcast, scheduled for eight rounds, welterweight prospect Omar Chavez, 19-0-1 with 14 knockouts, of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, will take on Eugenio “Dinamita” Lopez, 12-15-1 with 8 knockouts, of Ciudad Altamirano. Chavez, now 20 years old, is the youngest son of “El Grande Campeon Mexicano” – former four-time world champion and future Hall of Famer Julio Cesar Chavez.

The boxing webcasts are also available for viewing at any time in the archives on both WBCBoxing.tv and Suljos.tv. On the player at the bottom of the video, select the “Free On Demand” button to see the archived choices.
