Comments Thread For: Zbik vs Spada, Stieglitz vs Gutknecht on April 17

Universum Box Promotions return in April with two events a week apart. April 17 in Magdeburg Universum join forces with SES for a show headlined WBC interim middleweight champ Sebastian Zbik who again will take on Italian Domenico Spada. Zbik won a very close decision the first time out to win the title but many observers felt Spada had nicked it. In the co-feature WBO super middleweight king Robert Stieglitz faces Eduard Gutknecht, who comes in fresh off a win over ex-champ Karoly Balzsay. Itīs an exciting all German matchup (Stieglitz hail from Belorus but is based in Magdeburg since years) where Stieglitzīs speed and punch should make the difference.

    YES for the rematch!

In seriousness, the Stieglitz fight is pretty good. The guy he's fighting just beat Karoly Balzsay, who was supposed to be a real force in the sport. This is a good fight.

      Zbik and Spada are useless.

Stieglitz-Gutknecht will be interesting.Gutknecht will have to start faster and have the fire he had in him in the second part of the Balszay fight.

So very glad we get to see Zbik versus Spada again. 12 more rounds of Zbik hugging his way to a 12-round split decision in Germany. Nothing better. His first "defense" of his "interim title" was against a light-punching junior middleweight, so I guess the much-anticipated Spada rematch is a step up. Wonder how long they'll be able to keep Zbik away from legitimate opponents? Oh, that's right, they are the same people who promote Erdei. Nevermind

Dude, thanks for confirming your membership in the Zbik nuthugging club.
Didn't say Huggy Zbik's last fight was a SD. He clearly won, but it was against an Italian junior middleweight who had never even won a Euro title and had no business being in a "title fight."
I saw the first Spada fight and thought Zbik got a hometown decision, but frankly neither one of them looked like they could beat anybody in the top 25 in the middleweight division.
If Zbik wants to the fight the best, why hasn't he fought anybody worth a **** and why is he defending, against another C-level opponent in Spada? Talk is cheap. (kind of like Sturm saying he wanted to fight Abraham).
Write again from the Zbik clubhouse when Zbik actually fights somebody

That was my biggest take after the first Zbik-Spada fight... How the **** did neither of them take any round by the horns?

There was not a clear round to score in that entire fight, because both could not figure out a way to start their offense.

Yeah, the winner of this fight is going the same place as the loser... nowhere.
