Sources close to the negotiations have advised BoxingScene.com that Paul Williams vs. Kermit Cintron is close to done for May 8 on HBO. Williams shouldn't be fighting Anyone but Martinez!!!!!!! Phucken ducker!
Last I checked Williams wanted a rematch with Martinez but Martinez decided to fight Pavlik. I certainly can't blame him for taking that fight and Cintron is probably the best opponent left for Williams to fight. Should be a good fight and if Williams wins hopefully he will face the winner of Martinez/Pavlik.
Please get this fight done. And put it together at 154. No matter what Williams says, I think he's tempting fate by trying a move down to 147 now. All that yo yo **** will ruin him if he keeps up.
i'm not saying williams is made of glass, but what has he done to make you think he's iron? he was getting rocked hard against martinez who isn't at all known for his power. the punches martinez was landing were flush and even iron chinned guys will get hurt when you land solid enough long enough(marg-mosley). but still, i wouldn't call williams iron chinned quite yet.
Yeah, maybe not iron. I was exaggerating for effect. But his chin has been tested against hitters and held up, so it's at least above average. He's only been down once. The main point is that Kermit's power is overrated as hell, and there's really no way he stops a fighter like Williams. And Kermit isn't good enough of a boxer or slick enough to avoid Williams' non-stop shots for 12 rounds, so I see no way he wins this fight.
