Why doesnt Tyson get credit for his defense?

His ability to slip and duck punches was AMAZING. So was his head movement.
    His defense was downright amazing.

He does get credit, but he's just not a defensive fighter. But he has the best defense for an aggresive fighter.

I agree his defensive skills are pretty underated, most remember him for his vicious offensive attacks but not his defense. I loved the bob and weave style he had, tyson was hard to get caught flush in his prime. Tyson skills as a whole are underated IMO..

Since when does he not get credit for it? When people talk about Tyson now they always say prime Tyson for a reason. At his peak he wasn't just a puncher, the man could do everything. A 5'10 HW needs have defense, and Mike was brilliant dodging shots coming down at him from much taller opponents. Never heard people say young Tyson didn't have excellent defense.

The point of this thread is that I never heard anyone MENTION he had great defense. In his prime he was damn untouchable.

I've always noticed how his ability to slip punches lead to him landing his most deadly shots, but his D declined rapidly.

Maybe its because he stopped bobbing and weaving, post 1988

Most ppl just don't really care about defense so its not talked about that much.

You rarely ever hear ppl saying things like "look how he slipped that punch and then initiated a clench, wow".

If anything ppl complain about defense more than praise it.
