Hopkins started out heavier. He moved to middleweight because that was the right fit for him. Early in his career, and you'll notice this with most guys if you boxrec them, they weigh in over the actual limit, because it's not a title fight. Often you see guys early in their career who are middleweights weighting in at 164-165 etc.

Quick example: Danny Jacobs. he's a middleweight but he's only weighed under 160 one time and that was because a belt was on the line

Further, hopkins EASILY made middleweight, he most often came in at 158-159 pounds but on a number of times weighed 157 and even 156 pounds. Like Manny Stewart said, if he really wanted to he could have made jr. middleweight.

Hopkins never had a problem making 160, up until he was around 40 years old. The last year or two at middleweight he stated it was getting harder for him to make 160, but again, he was about 40 at the time.

get the f**k outta here...dude was a lightheavy...i can see if he scaled down to 168...he'd be fighting guys more his size...but 160 get the f**k outta here....much bigger and stronger than everybody in the division except for jones and taylor...you hopkins excuse mongrels are something man...

man, how fuucking long do you want to talk about the same **** over and over? Yes, we know how much you dislike hopkins, we've proven you've been doing this for 6-7 years now on various message boards. That's fine, we get it.

Again, for the millionth time, if hopkins was a true lightheavyweight how the fuuck could he make middleweight for damn near 20 years? You're telling me he was weight drained for all those years and dominating opposition??? A true lightheavyweight cannot get down to 156 pounds, I'm sorry. stop with the bull****.

Further, if Hopkins was such as big middlweight than what the fuuck does that make Jermain Taylor and Pavlik, who are approximately the same size as bhop??

And by the time he lost to taylor he was what? 40 years old?

And Roy Jones in 93, wow, what a horrible black eye on his career! He only lost to one of the greatest to ever lace them up!

I see Haye either Koing Hopkins or winning a decision cause Hopkins ran so much cause he was afraid to engage.

Hops knowing that Haye can kill him with one shot is going to be even more defensive and throw way less punches then he did in his fight with Jermaine Taylor.

he would beat hopkins at this stage for sure though, but prime hopkins coulve stepped up to HW and beat a prime haye.

look at toney and byrd, way smaller than the other HWs out there but made up for it with skills. the same way haye did against valuev, and prime hopkins wouldve been able to do that to haye.

now hopkins doesnt have the legs, reflexes and stamina to do it though.

Are you CRAZY?No version of Hopkins would beat David Haye.Haye is too big and talented.

In all fairness dude I will have to admit that the norm is really for natural LHWs to fight as MW like Hopkins, Taylor, Pavlik etc. Im sure come fight night even Jones and Toney would of been pushing 170 lbs during their MW reigns. I remember Daniel Santos fighting at JMW and rehydrating back up to 170 lbs in his fight against Plasteroo

But of course Hopkins will go the distance with Haye. I hope this fight happens and Hopkins shows it to you, so this thread can be bumped to expose your idiocy.

[QUOTE=ИATAS206;7555438]man, how fuucking long do you want to talk about the same **** over and over? Yes, we know how much you dislike hopkins, we've proven you've been doing this for 6-7 years now on various message boards. That's fine, we get it.

As long as you try to make up that lame excuse for hopkins scaling down to 160 from lightheavy, I'm gonna keep checking you.

Again, for the millionth time, if hopkins was a true lightheavyweight how the fuuck could he make middleweight for damn near 20 years? For the millionth and one time, Hopkins himself admitted to scaling down to 160 and staying there through eating rabbit food and staying in the gym. Stop making excuses. You can look at him and tell he was grossly undernourished at 160. How was he able to dominate? Take a look at that weak opposition he was fighting, then report back to me.

And by the time he lost to taylor he was what? 40 years old?

Not so fast there with the age excuse bucko, because he was supposed to be too experienced for somebody as green as taylor to even be competitive with him.

And so what if he lost to Roy Jones in 93, wow, what a horrible black eye on his career! He only lost to one of the greatest to ever lace them up!

He got quite a few black eyes. Jones, Taylor 2X, Calzaghe, even that lightheavy he lost to in the first fight. All equally sized, equally talented fighters who were not hanging out on movie sets before the fight. Actually, I'd be impressed if he took a fight with David Haye, cause he'd finally be the smaller man in a fight. Thats all most of us who feel Hopkins is overrated ever wanted to see in the first place.
