I can understand Anoraks reasoning for making this joke. Over the past few months people on this forum have been harping on about how good Tito is and the unspeakable pain he is gonna cause to poor Winky Wright blah blah!Originally posted by Famoso MatadorThanks dude! Anoraks joke was lame so he takes it out on us!
Well, Wright boxed a shut out and made Tito look like a fool. Hopkins did more or less the same thing when he fought Tito and yet his fans were there to make excuses. Now its been done again, what will the next excuse be? I can understand Tito being rusty after a long lay off but every round?
I agree with Anorak about Wright could have done more. He could have won the first nine rounds then dropped his hands and invite Tito to hook him. ****** maybe but what if Wright had shipped a few without getting hurt ( Tito wasn`t punching with his usual killer power on Saturday )?.
It would have been insult to injury. I`m not angry with Tito for losing. I`m angry with him because of his disrespect to boxing and the fans. During the build up he was talking about how he was this and that and Wright was nothing.
He didn`t come to fight, he didn`t let it all hang out in a fight against a non puncher and his first action wasn`t to enforce the rematch clause, it was to retire. This is a fighter whom enjoyed an unfair size advantage at welterweight due to draining down before weigh ins. Not learning the aspects of boxing properly for his power was his bread and butter. And due to his retirements after losses, this is a man who can`t learn from losses and comeback. Tito in my opinion destoryed his legacy by not facing his demons and not having the heart to comeback.
In fact, this hurts Wright`s accomplishment in a way. Like when Holyfield beat Tyson, Wright merely exposed a bully who was found wanting when someone stood up or deflected his power.
Many journeyman fighters had good chins but no ability, they lost on points but never were Ko`ed. Tito is of this mold. Great power in either hand but when unable to execute it......average techically limited fighter who`s attitude to boxing was exposed as selfish due to his lack of attention to the sweet science. Good riddence!Comment
