Back on January 15, British promoter Frank Warren was overwhelmed with a barrage of phone calls from several American promoters. Warren, obviously in the dark, was shocked to hear that one of his star fighters, WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan, had signed a promotional agreement with American-based Golden Boy Promotions. After Khan had destroyed Dmitriy Salita in one round last December, he told reporters at the post-press conference that he planned to invade America - with Warren. [Click Here To Read More]

How many times do I got to read a article about how Frank Warren is shocked how Amir Khan left him. Let it go. We know you did alot for him but quit whining about it. You have plenty of other prospects that you can guide to a championship with the least amount of resistance. -
There are several points in the article that don't ring true. There is no way Warren would have wanted the Maidana fight. He would have done his utmost to avoid that fight particularly after Prescott. Warren did an unbelievable job for Khan in managing him and directing him to a title shot at Kotelnik 3 fights after that disastrous loss and there is no way he would want to salvage Khan's career after similar loss to Maidana. The negotiations with Bradley don't ring true or if there were negotiations I can't see Warren ever having any real intention to make the fight. Bradley would beat Khan and after getting Khan to a position where he could make lots of easy money fighting sub standard opposition there is no way Warren would pass on that. All this undermines Warren's credibility about there rest of his claims in the article.
Warren would have been fully aware that the contract with Khan had elapsed and that he wanted to fight and make his career in the States and would be looking at alternative promoters. In the build up to the Golden Boy signing Warren printed articles saying he hoped Khan would be "LOYAL" so clearly he knew that something was up. However there is no question he has guided Khan to a world title in the most protected and safe way posible and been a master illusionist behind the scenes helping create the Khan image and how the public percieve him. For this I can see why he is unhappy about being scorned.
There is no question that while he was spending so much time on Khan's career Warren's other fighters were not progressing at the rate they should have . Warren concentrating on Khan was to the detriment to his other fighters and it is no coincidence only now is Kevin Mitchell begining to emerge from Khan's shadow, Nathan Cleverly also but the biggest victim from lack of attention is Kell Brook . He should have been further along.Comment

Frank let it go, Amir has moved on and so should you. Remember what Frank said a couple of years ago:"Amir should emulate Calzaghe's career". HELL NO!! I think thats why Amir left you Frank. Amir didn't want to fight bums for 10 years. Amir actually has the hunger and desire to be remembered as a 'great' and he knows to become that he has to fight the big names in the US right now and not 10 years later.Comment
