Honestly, if i were you, i will go active. Get a guaranteed contract to be station overseas, Japan or Europe.

I got station here in my home state in California while i was in the Marines. I was lucky that i got to be assigne to a battalion that does a WesPac. Goes on a navy ship for 6 months, visits and trains in Asia and Middle East/Africa.

I was thinking about going active, but I got my girl and all over here. I would love to go see Japan and those other countries. They say they live in the year 3000 something lol. Active is good but I already signed as Air Guard

Even if you go active, i don't think you will be going since you gonna be in computer. I read in a military forum that they only do 3 months deployment. Those who do 6 months are mostly pilots and its support, mostly mechanics.

2 months of boot camp and 6 months of tech school, that is 8 months away from your girl. If your below 25, don't get serious yet on a relationship.
