Lets Say We Have The Ability To Implement Random Blood Tests

Those who are proponents of random blood tests, I would like to hear how you feel it should be implemented. Remember, boxing is a global sport. There is not one unified structured body or organization which has authority over all boxers like there is in the NFL, NBA or Olympics.

How is blood testing supposed to be implemented? Should it be for only certain fights? Should it be for ALL sanctioned fights all over the world? Should it only be for champion ship fights? Should it be for only PPV fights?

I would say it needs to be for all title fights, And the organisation e.g WBA or WBC need to administer it when both fighter open camp, The funny thing is they might not even get tested at all but when you know they have the right to test you at anytime that would prevent you from doing anything dodgy.

my thoughts exactly, for title fights and top elimination bouts.

So then lets say a fighter is cheating all the way up to a title fight and gets busted for PED after the title fights, the other fighters he beat prior to the title fight are chit out of luck? They wont be able to overturn those L's to NC's because there would be no proof that he cheated since tests weren't done since they werent title fights. Do you feel thats fair or just a necessary consequence?

Why would they overturn a fight that testing wasnt administered?? Its ill luck if that actually happens, Look at Cotto for example with the Margarito fiasco, if a non-title fight happens and a boxer wants testing for his own safety then he has all the right to ask for it.

Its like the Magi wraps against Cotto. Can't punish what you can't prove. Title fights would be a great start. From there over time it can trickle down to regular sanctioned fights.

i'd say all fights over a certain amount of purse and title fights ...

either way its already being implemented by Sauerland. they have random testing stipulated in all their contracts and they are working with the WADA/German NADA for random testing. and have already caught someone using a banned substance.

if they can do it we can do it in north america

Sadly it can only be enforced with the backing of money. I mean, The Blue Square South isn't gonna face testing like the Premier League as (a.) the money isn't there and (b.), frankly, no one really cares.

So implementing more stringent testing in boxing universally is nigh on unachievable. That shouldn't stop us rallying for better testing in the boxing equivalent of the Premiership however - which is much more realistic and desperately needed.

On the subject of how the governing side would be handled: I think the actual testing and protocol would have to be managed by a third party organisation who would need to be hired by sanctioning bodies/television networks/promoters/state commissions or all of the above. We just need some people with power and influence to get the ball rolling. Possibly Golden Boy Promotions? But maybe their motives are too self centred to really grant them the stubborness and persistence to see this "crusade" to the end.
