Colvin was arrested[when?] in the beating death of a house painter who was killed when he tried to protect a driver who had struck and injured a toddler. Austin police charged Colvin with felony manslaughter, as well as felony theft and misdemeanor assault. On October 22, 2008, Colvin was found guilty of aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, but acquitted of manslaughther. The next day the jury recommended probation. Formal sentencing is scheduled for November 3, where he faces up to 10 years probation. -
