No. Ali didn't deliberately try to be hated. He just did his thing and that's the response he got for it. His smack talk was 100% real. Floyd is just doing what he gotta do to keep his name hot. I wouldn't say he's biting off Ali, though obviously people will compare the 2.

and the funny thing is, people act as if Ali was liked during most of his career.

In fact mainstream America despised Ali until his fight with Foreman.
Ali's way of bringing attention to himself and talking to his opponents was unattractive at the time, but it got people interested.

Floyd isn't like now, but he is doing his numbers and bringing attention and publicity to the sport of boxing, which for a while has been subjected to the bottom right corner on page 10 in the sports section. Floyd is doing his part to change that.

I tried to tell people, Floyd without the trash talk would be a undefeated Winky Wright or even a more experienced Chad Dawson.

and theres a HUGE difference in Floyd Mayweathers money now than Winky Wright's money.
Yes, that's what im trying to figure out. Maybe Floyd did all his **** just for publicity and legacy.

Ali definitely had more natural charisma.

people don't see that floyd isn't serious most of the time, He really trys to create controversy. Ali was much better with the smack talk. and far more disrespectful.

Ali may not have tried to be 'hated', but his smack talk certainly wasn't 100% real. Ali most definitely was trying to create interest, controversey, and ruckus.

As for Mayweather, I don't know if he's trying to 'bite' Ali, but he's certainly trying to use his mouth to help cement interest in himself and his fights. He isn't nearly as charismatic or quick with the tongue as Ali, though, but I do give him points for effort.

Trash talking has done WONDERS for Mayweather's Career.

He is a defense first minded fighter, and everyone knows this isn't always crowd pleasing.

                I use an baseball analogy
Mayweather is the best boxer period.

However, Mayweather is like a GREAT Pitcher. Where someone like a Pacquiao is a Homerun hitter.

No one is going to make the case that Mark Mcquire is a better player than Nolan Ryan but I'm sure you rather see Mark Mcquire on the plate rather than Ryan on the mound.

So when you have a fighter like that, you need to bring interest to yourself, which therefore translates into more publicity and a far greater paycheck.

no one cared about Mayweather when he conducted himself like the perfect gentleman or referred to the Refree and announcers as Sir.

HBO would love for Chad Dawson to trash talk....but he won't. He is so damn skilled but yet he will struggle to get TV dates because no one pays attention to the mild manner family man who beats his opponents off of skill rather than devastating power.

With some trash talk, Mayweather is the most talked about fighter since the every exciting, controversial and crowd pleasing Iron Mike Tyson.

The only difference is that Ali fight fighters in their primes, not fat lightweight or 40 year old men. He takes chances unlike the vajayjay floyd.

100% agree. Ali said things that were insulting, yet clever and witty. When Floyd talks trash, it's just, well, ******. It lacks any substance or flare, he's basically saying things for shock value. He says things so preposterous, and unbelievable, you have no choice but to laugh AT him, not with him.
