Financial ownership does not equal editorial control. Nigel Collins is his own man and would resign immediately if GBP ever tried to interfere. The Ring's rankings are by far the most respected in the sport, and no one has ever provided any evidence of any meddling by De La Hoya, or of any bias towards him or towards GBP.

On Margarito's side, if Margarito wants to redeem himself in the public's eyes (if he gets his license again)...well there's Pacquiao, Mosley, Cotto, Mayweather, Williams. If he beats any one of them, what will that make him? Will he be praised or villified once more? If Pacquiao can take Cotto's punches, what more for Margarito?

He'll subject himself to scrutiny especially the hand wraps, but will he ever be the same fighter (save for the last fight with Mosley)? I don't know. If Top Rank or GBP is in the business of giving second chances, well this may be fight Margarito needs...for now.
