Cotto fight depends ***ish ceremony
By The Associated Press
NEW YORK - The date of the fight between Miguel Cotto against super welterweight champion Yuri Foreman at Yankee Stadium now depends on a bar mitzvah.
Foreman, the 154-pound king, must face the Puerto Rican Cotto on June 5 at the ballpark, on Tuesday reported to the AP promoter Bob Arum.
But there is an obstacle. That date is scheduled for a bar mitzvah, the ceremony in which a ***ish youth passes into adulthood. The party scheduled for that date includes the use of stadium video screens.
If the dispute is not resolved, Foreman will have to fight Cotto on June 12 at Madison Square Garden, on the eve of Day parade in Puerto Rico. Cotto has fought numerous times on the Saturday before the parade in a city where there are over 800,000 residents of Puerto Rican descent.
Foreman, born in Belarus and resident of New York, is ***ish and is studying to become a rabbi.
