Did Top Rank Ever Allude To Lopez And Gamboa Fighting Each Other

    After That Card?

Did they publicly announce that the card they set up, Lopez/Luevano & Gamboa/Mtagwa, was to set up Lopez/Gamboa if they won soon after? I don't think I ever remember reading or hearing that it was the idea officially. If that INDEED was the idea and if they did announce it, I REALLY can't help but think that after they saw Gamboa dispose of Mtagwa the way he did, they felt Lopez was not ready for someone of Gamboa's caliber.

It is clear as day that Lopez is not on Gamboa's level yet and would be beaten by Gamboa convincingly.

But was that fight supposed to be the preliminary to Gamboa/Lopez?

I think they'll push it to the 2011, I don't think it's gonna happen this year.

                  No they didn't.

In fact Arum has said it won't happen for a while and came out with that ''fcuk the fans'' statement.

It will happen eventually, but Arum will build it up way more than this. They've only just got into the same division and won titles. He will want to build up their reputations and a little rivalry between the two and let them develop into better boxers (remember they are very young) to make sure it's a huge fight.

He could do it now but it won't happen for 2 reasons. Firstly, that's two of his most promising stars who make him a lot of cash beating each other up, whoever wins will put the losers career on hold. It's hard for young fighters to cope with their first loss, the general fan reaction will be to flock to the winner and not care about the loser anymore. Secondly it will be worth a lot more money down the line, this reason alone is enough for Arum to keep it on hold till they are bigger stars.
