SSM has been waiting for him for a long time.
good fights yes. but look closer. mab first time around is arguably pacs best win besides cotto. morales beat him only 5 years ago! morales was done after that first war and was clearly shot in the next 2 beatdowns pac put on him. mab is old by their second go around you just cant argue that. and he has 2 controversial fights with jmm, one controversial win, and another draw, the same jmm floyd completey outclassed.so really pacmans best wins are below 130 besides mab the first time and cotto. and for the record floyd DID IN FACT pursue a fight with shane a long time ago and shane wanted none of it. now everyone starts saying floyd is ducking shane and floyd takes the fight.

Bump. Mayweather strikes again. People are buying into the Robinson and Ali comments, therefore creating controversy which translate into PPV buys.

      **** talk --> Controversy --> PPV buys --> Success --> Repeat

If his critics really wanted him to go away they would stop talking about him all the time. They simply can't ignore him though and he knows it. It's them who get robbed.

        • vs Ricky Hatton - 915k

        • vs Oscar De La Hoya - 2.4 mil

For people that say he's boring or "Nobody wants to see him fight such and such", millions of people disagree!

-First things first. Let's get the excuses out of the way-

        "Mayweather was being carried"

-Really? By the guys he "cherry picked"??? Please show me where Marquez has done anything close to those kind of numbers.

"People only buy Mayweather PPV's to watch him lose."

-Lose to who? The guys people said were "cherry picked , tailor made" opponents? First they say, they're cherry picked, but you pay $50 to watch him lose to his "tailor made" oppenent?

"Those are dumb casual fans who pay to see him lose"

-No. Casual fans don't know enough about Mayweather to know about his bad guy persona and to want him to lose that badly...

Note: If you're buying FMJ ppv's to watch him lose, save your money.

Face it. People like to watch Mayweather and appreciate his style. They know they are watching greatness. For those who say Mayweather contradicts himself take a look in the mirrior. Ex:

Typical Floyd hater: Mayweather is boring to watch.

Casual fan: I like his skills. He's never been beat and has dominated his opponents.

Typical Floyd hater: Bull****! I scored the first Mayweather vs Castillo for Castillo. The Oscar fight could have gone either way! Judah had him in trouble in the early rounds.

^^^ Wait so he's boring but you took the time to watch those fights. All the way back to the JLC fight? lol. AND probably watched it more than once so you could score it right!?

Bottom line: You made Mayweather the star he is today

that is exactly what floyd wants, that's why he does his whole money mayweather routine. the guy is a genius and a fantastic talent... BUT he hasnt always fought the best fighters out there. if he fights mosley and pacman in the next year, for me, that will end the controversy over him supposedly ducking fights. if he doesnt then his legacy will always be dogged by people saying that he never fought the best of the best. and they will have a fair point...

I probably shouldn't even try..... but I'm a believer that you dont prejudge people. (I want to assume you will be reasonable in this discussion but my gut tells me you will have no facts to back up your assertions..... however I will not be prejudice and ask my questions anyway)

In what way has PAC surpassed Mayweather. I agree he is definately a more likeable person (Floyd as a person is detestable... I wouldn't want my kid having anything to do with the guy) So from a pure likablilty factor PAC may be more popular. However that argument wont wash with HBO because they run a business and as far as they are concerned Mayweather is more popular and they have the stats to back it up:

Floyd v Hatton 915,000 PPV buys (Pac v Hatton 850,000 PPV buys)
Floyd v DLH 2.4 Mil PPV buys (Pac v DLH 1.25 Mil PPV buys)
Floyd v Marquez 1 Mil PPV buys (Pac v Marquez 2 400,000 PPV buys)(Pac also had the benefit of Pac v Marquez 1 to sell the second fight AND no PPV competition as Floyd v Marquez with UFC 103 PPV....375,000 buys)

These are undisputed facts and HBO has the stats to back them up.

So when you say that PAC surpassed Mayweathers popularity..... what are you basing it on?
