Floyd Mayweather Jnr's Drug Speech on February 24, 2010

    I Have A Dream
    by Floyd Mayweather Jnr

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down as the greatest demonstration of arrogance, cowardice, and incivility in the history of boxing.

Not so long ago, I had the opportunity to become the greatest boxer of all time by fighting the current best pound for pound boxer in the world, but squandered it with my travesty of demanding an unprecedented drug test from him.

So, I have come here today to dramatize a shameful condition. In a sense you have come to cash a check. When my henchmen drafted the magnificent words on that fight contract, we were signing a promissory note to which every boxing fans was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all fans would be guaranteed the fight of the century.

But, it is obvious today that my cohorts and I have defaulted on this promissory note. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, I have given the boxing fans a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."

I must admit, I failed to gather courage sufficient enough to fight the warrior that has engulfed the entire boxing community with his outstanding performance in and out of the ring.

It would be fatal for the boxing nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This frigid winter of the boxing fans' legitimate discontent will not pass until I fight the "The Pac Storm". The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of boxing until the day I fight the man.

I have come to realize that to be great, I have to fight the great. I will not seek to satisfy my thirst for greatness by drinking from the cup of fearfulness and arrogance.

Therefore, I say to you today, my friends, in the process of gaining my rightful place in boxing history, I am fighting the #2 Pound for Pound fighter in the world --- myself. In order to conquer that demon with a "0" mark on its head, I am announcing my retirement. I have realized that the only brave thing for me to do, is run.

So even though I will face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in our family of crooks.

I have a dream that one day boxing will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that Money Mayweather is the greatest boxer of all time; greater than Ali or Leonard."

I have a dream today. I have a dream that I am whipping that punk ass Manny Pacquiao.

This is my hope. This is the faith that I go back to my Las Vegas mansion with. With this faith I will be able to transform the jangling discords of our family into a beautiful symphony of ganghood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to do drugs together, to beat women together, to go to jail together, to stand up for incivility together, knowing that we will be free one day.

And for boxing to be once again a great sport, this must become true. And for this to become true, I entreat all americans to support me just as they have supported our brave american troops overseas. And when this happens, we will be able to speed up that day when all boxing fans will be able to join hands and sing Free at last!

Free from my obligations to the fans!

    Free from Pacquiao's wrath!

    Free from fear!

Thank Money almighty, I am free at last!

Floyd forcing another boxer to give blood before a fight is far different from Martin Luther King and Malcolm X fighting for equal rights of their people, in which they gave their lives for. While Floyd is doing nothing but introducing extra tests on top of an already sufficient standard testing policies. But floyd gives himself the same credit as MLK and Malcom X's achievements. Floyd is a piece of ****. "real talk"

equal rights would be not accusing someone of wrong doing without any evidence & following the rules that have been in place for decades by your sport's ruling commission, the way he has done in all 40 of his fights just like pacquiao.

that would be equal rights. that would be the honorable thing to do. Not character assassination using the sporting world's scarlett letter steroids as epitomizing McCartyism & the salem witch trials.

The man with some of the fastest hands in the sport can only be outdone by the fastest lips in the sport. In Floyd’s latest “gum bumping” encounter, he went on record claiming that his “Drug Crusade” is on par with what Martin Luther King Jr and Malcom X did in their Civil Rights efforts. Floyd thinks that he’s leading the way in creating freedom and equality in boxing just like Martin and Malcom did in America.

“But it’s me taking a stand for something that means something. And it’s for the fighters who are up and coming. It’s sort of the same stance Martin Luther King and Malcolm X made, so we could have freedoms, so everybody could tell the world that we’re equal. The only thing I’m saying is that we are equal. So if you’re not on nothing and I’m not on nothing, then let’s go take the test. That’s all I’m saying." FMJ, Grand Rapids Press

I think it’s safe to say, Floyd is doing nothing remotely close to what Martin Luther King Jr or Malcom X have done. Whether you agree or disagree with the actions and beliefs of Martin or Malcom, you can all agree that Civil Rights is a much higher cause than drug testing in Boxing. I also think it’s safe to say that Floyd will never be like Martin or Malcom. Without going too much farther down this tangent, I happen to be a huge fan of Martin Luther King Jr. I still get goose bumps every time I watch the following speech:

If Floyd was so dedicated to equality in Boxing then why did it take him 40 fights, and 14 years after he turned pro, to start demanding equality? I’ve never heard Floyd demand Boxing, and the different Athletic Commissions, to add Steroids to their drug testing before they did. In fact, up until his encounter with Pacquiao, I never heard Floyd publicly “beat the drums” for any type of drug to be tested or any style of drug testing. And, according to Keith Kizer Executive Director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, he has never petitioned the NSAC to make any changes even after his public outcry toward Pacquiao.

Floyd’s demands for Pacquiao to take the test are baseless. Pacquiao’s never tested positive for anything, and Floyd has never demanded any other fighter take additional blood tests before this Pacquiao encounter.

My last point on this topic is this, if Floyd does suspect Manny of taking something illegal then why doesn’t he or his criminal family members say what it is? They talk so much trash and make so many disgusting accusations about Manny, why don’t they ever come out and say what it is. Or are we to believe Roger Mayweather’s claims, that Pacquiao is on A-Meth, is why the entire Mayweather clan and GBP have gone out of their way to publicly smear Manny “Mr. Hollywood” Pacquiao?

Floyd, give me proof or give me a break!
wow. what a very improper comparison by floyd. i dont even think floyd believes half the stuff that he says to the media.

I made the same topic yesterday and *****s deliberately ignoring this kind of thread, the fact that their idol is a moron shows his followers are much more moronic. Just look at where they-*****s replying in the forum, they would like to gang up on a topic involving Fraud's undefeated record, Fraud is greater than Ali's and Robinson, Pacs on roid, etc...

you guys are actually taking this **** seriously.
                    Just unbelivable.
                    Floyd is punking you!
He is stirring **** up and trying to get people to talk about him and talk about his fight.
                    And it is working.
They talked about him on PTI today and boxing forums are blowing up.

It is purely promotion from Floyd. He does not believe what he is saying.
