Those improvements would indeed help the fighters you have mentioned except, Gatti because IMHO hand speed is natural you either have it or you don't....but it's not impossible for the others mentioned. It all depends on the fighter and Ortiz is still young.

I don't see why it would be impossible for Ortiz to improve in those specific areas of his game as the T/S has indicated.

    You fail!!!!

No, ih he beats campbell in 6 then guess who's next, MAIDANA.

he has to fight maidana after that, bombs away with a title shot.

The point is god given or not if you mythically changed a good fighters weakness he would become a great fighter. Try having some levity to yourself.

Yeah, I agree on past fighters that no longer fight or might be at the end of their career.....but a young fighter can definitely improve and change certain aspects of his game.Khan is a prime example of this.

par...yeah i know some ppl are gonna say something about his heart but its getting old but you gotta admit that if Victor Ortiz would have jabbed more and started to exchange in the mid rounds against Maidana then Ortiz would have won...What Ortiz has that none of the other JWWs have is accurate punching skills with power...Ortiz is able to find those gaps and attack Viciously sort of like what Manny Pacquiao has...the only thing wrong is that when Ortiz fights a solid chin opponent he leaves himself wide open when he throws that left hand...if he is able to fix that then he'd be able to beat anyone at 140 and I mean anyone!

i think ortiz has decent defense. you see i think ortiz loss to maidana
wasn't because of lack of boxing skills but because he made rookie mistake of being drawn in to rumble and didn't stick to a gameplan.
imo and many others ortiz would easily school marcos in a rematch, so much so that many donot want to see ortiz waste time with a maidana
rematch unless ortiz needs a staybusy inbetween step ups.

this maidana was nothing till the ortiz win. for the life of me don't know why khan wants to risk things against pauli rather than an easier one against maidana.

There was a reason TopRank was moving him so slowly...Word was he was a front-runner an had a shaky chin. Once you quit it becomes easier to do the next time. Ortiz will never be a top-flight fighter.

Ortiz posesses all the skills to be great but Ortiz is in some kind of midlife crisis. I think he doesnt know for sure if he still wants a career in boxing. You could clearly see this in the interviews after the Maidana fight. I just believe he is in boxing to pay the bills and when he has got enough money he will leave the sport. I don't see that ambition in him to be remembered as a 'great' in boxing. I just don't. And that will be his downfall.
