Again, would you rather watch Gatti-Ward or Pacquiao-Cotto right now? You'd probably pick the latter, but many others would pick Gatti-Ward. Both of these fights are exciting, but Gatti-Ward is MUCH MORE exciting.
I'd rather watch Sugar Ray Leonard vs Tommy Hearns than Gatti-Ward.

Anyway the title is misleading. Guts/swarmers doesn't equal exciting. Gatti is a special fighter, some crap British fighters would do what you call ''exciting'', it is anything but that.

I personally prefer watching a skilled boxer vs a swarmer type. Skill vs Skill, Swarmer vs Swarmer it depends on my mood.

By exciting fighters, I mean those who put on an amazing show but don't really have the best skills in the world. They're known to always apply pressure and slug it out in every round, regardless how many times they kiss the canvas. They're also known to have around 9+ losses on their resume because skilled fighters usually dismantle them. They're often called C class fighters, or one dimensional. This includes Arturo Gatti, Mickey Ward, Cristobal Arreola (well he only has 1 loss because the HW division sucks ass), Jose Luis Castillo, Angel Manfredy, Brian Minto, etc.

By skilled fighters I mean those gifted fighters, whether its offensively or defensively. Whether they're quick, strong, have amazing upperbody/lower body strength, physical, counter punchers, slick or whatever, they always come to a fight prepared and are considered the best boxers. They're also known to exploit "exciting" boxers, and are the reason many people call those boxers overrated, or C class. Sometimes skilled boxers are criticized for not being action packed. This includes fighters like Sugar Ray Robinson & Leonard, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Juan Manuel Marquez, Manny Pacquiao, Chad Dawson, Bernard Hopkins, etc.

Which do you prefer? An all out war/slugfest or an amazing showcase of pure skill?
This thread is pretty flawed, there is no distinction between "skilled" and "exciting" fighters. Some skilled fighters are very exciting, some exciting fighters aren't that skilled, it varies.

Pacquiao has good skills, and is good to watch, same with JMM, Cotto, Ali, SRL, and Floyd at times

            Skilled boxers definitely !!

This is where true boxing fans meet dumb boxing fans !!

One group of fans appreciate the sweet science and the technical side of things, and the other appreciate the blood and guts and violence of it all !!!

It's all about the class and skills, not about the nasty kills (8)

I would preferably like both but if it came down to one or the other I’d have to go with the exciting fighter. Over the years of following boxing I always found I got my money’s worth when to sluggers turned their fight in an all out war.

I'll watch a prime 147 Mayorga over Floyd any day.

just cause your skilled don't mean you can't be exciting, and jsut cause your exciting doesn't mean you can't be skilled. I reject the premise

Thats easy as common sense, why would you want to watch a boring ass fight? or I can watch a fight where Im the edge of seat, screaming any sec a knock out could happen.
