Change in opponents, struggles to shrink down to the super flyweight limit, all for a fight that – in the grand scheme of things – is less about enhancing his resume than it serves as a placeholder while figuring out the next move in his career.
Most other fighters would simply accept the hand he’s dealt, and insist that he just fights whomever his promoter puts in front of him.
Donaire (22-1, 14KO) has proven in the ring that he’s a cut above most fighters. He’s now chosen to deviate from the script beyond the ropes as well.
