Pac vs Dela Hoya PPV was a flop because many people believe it was a curcus act. If Pac was to destroy Cotto and than fight Dela Hoya, I bet it would have done 2mills plus PPV. I still can believe it did over 1mill with that ****. People were only buying it to see how Dela Hoya was going to beat Pac down...they got a suprise.

Pacquiao vs Mayweather PPV Buys: The De la Hoya Effect - Everybody knows that Oscar de la Hoya is the non-heavyweight PPV king. Mayweather and Paccquiao become famous through De la Hoya halo effect.*

Here's a side by side comparison of Pacquiao and Mayweather before and after De la Hoya made them more famous.

Mayweather's Highest PPV before De la Hoya:

      Zab Judah - 374,000
      Arturo Gatti - 365,000
      Carlos Baldomir - 325,000

      TOTAL : 1,064,000

Pacquiao's Highest PPV Fights before De la Hoya:

Juan Manuel Marquez Rematch - 400,000
      Erik Morales 3rd Match - 360,000
Marco Antonio Barrera Rematch - 350,000

      TOTAL: 1,110,000
Now, here's both of their PPV buys AFTER De la Hoya. You can see that it increased considerably:

Mayweather Fights after De la Hoya

      Juan Manuel Marquez - 1,050,000
      Ricky Hatton - 925,000

      TOTAL: 1,975,000
Pacquiao Fights after De la Hoya

      Miguel Cotto - 1,250,000
      Ricky Hatton - 850,000

TOTAL: 2,100,000If we take the 2 highest PPV buys of their pre-Oscar fights and compare them with after-Oscar fights PPV buys, here's what it would look like:
      Numbers don't lie.

This is a ridiculous post. It is the equivalent of comparing apples to cabbage. You can manipulate numbers any way you want if you are not comparing apples to apples. John McCain won more states in the presidential election than Barack *****. But, who is the current POTUS?

Floyd has made a lot more money on his fights, pre and post Oscar than Pacquaio and will make twice as much as Pac in their next fight. Using that logic, Floyd is the biggest draw by a landslide.

The only way you can have a true comparison is to compare their PPV numbers against common opponents, including Oscar. If you do that, Floyd wins by a landslide. Even if you don't include Oscar, Floyd still wins.

Who cares what they did before they became stars in boxing? Pac fought a lot of Mexican fighters.

How much did Pac sell compare to Floyd with common opponents? The only numbers that should matter are the numbers they have with common opponents.
