He was right on about Roy being so dominant and relying on his speed so much that he didn't really learn the basics because he didn't need them. Not saying that Roy doesn't know the basics of boxing, that would be foolish but he definitely didn't have to practice them as much as a guy like Hopkins because he was "that special" like Hopkins put it.

He does talk the fight up well. I'll be buying this fight for sure, even though I wish it had happened 8 years ago.

its very respectful to see and hear bernard acknowledge how special roy was back then.. at least even though they "talk ****" about each other its still in a respectful manner.

      and for roy well....
i'll say it again... PLZ RETIRE CHAMP!

your right there will be a whole lot of Ugly that day. Hopkins nailed it Roy's legs are gone and it seems like his ability to take a punch is pretty much gone too. RJJ should be remembered fo what he did middleweight through winning the heavy weight title, but Hopkins will probably add a very nasty last chapter.

Why, because he might get head butted and held to death the entire fight?

I say to RJJ fight everyone and anyone, apart from BH. Fight Pavlik, fight Kessler, fight Froch, but not BH.

I thought RJJ would have retired much earlier because he saw what happened to his mate Gerrald mcellan. I heard when in his prime RJJ was cautious because of what happened to McCellan, but apparantly not.
Did you actually watch that fight? Roy Jones jr. didn't do anything special for you to say he made Hopkins look ordinary. He did just a little more than Hopkins to win that fight but nothing to brag about.

Hopkins is going to take Roys soul after this fight. This will be the last straw for him and it could get ugly, however i feel this is only way Roy is going to retire so Hopkins is going to put Roy away for good from boxing. R.I.P Roy.

I've always been a fan of Jones but Hopkins is right. He has relied on his god given unnatural speed and reflexes for all of his career. Now that they have faded, he has trouble even with most average fighter. Hopkins can still bring it at his age and has good boxing fundamentals. I fear for Roy.

The fact is these guys are old and should get this big fight before the end of their career, of course it doesn't mean anything but i really wouldn't want to see RJJ fight anyone else at this point. I"m a big B-Hop fan but I haven't even missed see him either.

One can only wish it would be 10% as entertaining as a Thrilla.
