He's also the guy who called the Petruzelli/Kimbo match in EXC "The greatest sucess story of the year."

Everyone in the know knew Kimbo had no chance.

Your being too harsh on Johnson, what he lacks in Boxing no how he makes up for with the drama he brings.

Remember Froch/Taylor? i was on the edge of my seat listening to that and thought the commentary was awesome, for excitement level anyway.

??? He was absolutely horrible in that fight. Anybody would have been screaming. That makes him exciting? Gus Has no business in boxing, period.

You say that but i dont think HBO did a good job of Miranda vs Pavlik. Skysports actually did a better job of that fight excitement wise.

good topic TS and I also don't like Gus Johnson either.

he was calling Valero Pound for Pound fighter, which just isn't accurate .. maybe pound for pound most exciting could be accurate.

and if anyone recalls the Campbell-Bradley fight, IMO the calling of the action by Gus not only ruined the fight, but gave everyone the impression that Bradley was 2-3 punches away from a stoppage, when honestly the most noticeable damage was the accidental head clash

I can understand excitement and passion for the sport .. as commentators need that to help maintain the fans interest

however in that Campbell-Bradley fight IMO the behavior of Gus took away from the fight and was borderline unprofessional.

instead of rudely injecting his opinion about Campbell being "old over night" and or "shot" why not try behaving like an adult, not like a hopped up on caffeine child. all Bradley was doing was throwing more punches, its not like he was landing clean consistently

**if someone were to listen to the fight on just audio they'd have thought Bradley was on the bring of a TKO

Drama? that belongs in High School. Look im all for commentators showing emotion, but could Gus cut out the screaming and etc?

Gus really needs to tone it down a notch as even the in studio commentator for that UCLA-Gonzaga game made a slight crack at him. (it was in joking fashion)
